1. Build a wooden frame in the appropriate size using 24 x 45 mm laths. Attach weather strips (for windows) all the way round the inner edge of the frame. Cut a piece of 1 mm rubber blanket in the same size as the frame and staple it onto the frame along the outer edge (over the weather strip)
2. Drill a hole (5 mm) in a sucking disc
3. Turn the frame upside down and cut a round hole (approx. 10 mm) in the rubber blanket in one corner 35 mm away from each of the adjoining edges.
4. Apply some glue along the edge of the sucking disc and place it symmetrically over the hole
5 Glue a piece of air tube (for aquariums) onto the hole in the sucking disc and leave the glue to dry. Drill a hole in one edge. Push the tube through, fasten a hose coupling to the tube and glue it from the outside
6. Screw or nail the back plate from a clip-on picture frame onto the bottom
7. Turn the frame over and glue on a piece of cord (the type used in Venetian blinds) in the air hole on the inside of the sucker disc. Seal the edge of the rubber blanket with duct tape all the way round.
8. Connect the air extraction hole to the vacuum pump with a piece of aquarium air tube. Place the laminated copper plate or photopolymer plate on the rubber blanket on top of the cord. Now place the positive with the emulsion side facing the copper plate and cover the whole frame with a glass plate (you might use the one
that came with the clip-on picture frame). Turn on the vacuum frame and enjoy the result!
